Course Information

The course will run for up to 13 weeks.

The aim of this programme is to ensure learners, who have learning disabilities and or learning difficulties can develop the skills and experience necessary to progress through the employability pipeline.

Communication, interpersonal and team building skills will play a large part in the individual’s development. They will also investigate the world of work and be supported to make realistic career choices and goals.

Initial training will take place at Stirling Street and then work experience placements will take place in local areas with employers.

We are anticipating 3 intakes to the programme. These being June 2016, September 2016 and January 2017 to allow for winter leavers.

Course Information

Our stage 2 EF programme will be delivered at our training complex in Blackridge with work placement experience within this stage being delivered with a company within the North Lanarkshire area. Work placements include construction, warehousing & distribution, factories, recycling and mechanical.

Please Note: Mini bus travel will be available to and from our training complex in Blackridge on a daily basis with pick ups throughout the North Lanarkshire area.

Course Information

Wage incentive for employers available when they hire someone for more than 16 hours a week.

Work experience placements for local unemployed young people to gain valuable work experience and improve their CV.

Stage 2

Course Information

Provides support, encouragement and an overall positive learning and development experience preparing learners for progression to Stage 3, employment, modern apprenticeship or further learning and development in the social service adult or child care sectors.

Learners will participate in 8 weeks training (6 weeks in L & G premises and 2 weeks work experience) in L & G Learning, third floor of the Hatrack Building, 144 St Vincent Street, Glasgow.

Course Information

Training packages and programme will be designed to meet the individual needs of the participant.

All participants of the programme will work towards an agreed employment outcome, which will include the delivery of industry recognised qualifications and training within a sector that has employment opportunity. All participants will also be offered aftercare support beyond the intial period of training and supported into employment.

Stage 2: 16-17, 18+

Course Information

To develop personal and vocational skills and provide qualifications to enhance the participant’s opportunities to enter into employment in their chosen occupational sector. The tailored training programme can include literacy/numeracy support, confidence building, personal presentation and health awareness. It will also provide the development of workplace skills that employers expect eg timekeeping, attendance, use of initiative, good attitude and work ethos.

Positive outcomes from the Stage 2 programme will be progression to a more advanced stage of the Employability fund programme, a place on a college course at a more advanced level or to move into employment or a Modern Apprenticeship.

We have 2 training centres supporting the North Lanarkshire EF Programme. Trainees will attend one of these locations, whichever is closer to home or easiest to travel to. Length of time in Centre prior to work taster/experience dependent on individual progress.

Offered to young people in North Lanarkshire who have left school and are not currently involved in education, employment, volunteering or training.

Stage 3: 16-17, 18+

Course Information

Stage 3 – SQA Employability Award: 12 weeks, 20 hours per week over 5 x days (Mon-Fri 9.30am-1.30pm). 8 weeks in centre, 4 weeks on work placement.

We will tap into local relationships with Education Services to plan and deliver community events. Young people will take part in multiple volunteering opportunities. In addition to structured qualifications, young people will take part in employability group work sessions including; barriers, interview skills, CV building, job search, application forms and sustainability. There will be a weekly session aimed at job search and an expectation that young people actively seek employment. Young people will complete 8 weeks in centre followed by 4 weeks on work placement. Placements will be tailored to individual career aspirations and goals. Young people will be action planned, set goals and work towards the development and improvement of the skills and knowledge to be sustainable in employment.

North Lanarkshire’s Working is part of North Lanarkshire Council. The service is wide ranging and supports clients and businesses in getting people into work.

From one to one support to debt and money advice to CV support and interview skills the service takes a customer on a journey to ensure they are confident and ready to go into work.

Course Information

Stage 2 will be based on the individual assessment and needs. Participants will be expected to complete up to 30 hours per week maximum in a combination of training and or work experience appropriate to this stage. The learner will hopefully complete SVQ qualification at level 3 and work taster/experience. These will be sourced within easy travelling distance from the learners home.

Learners will be supported to progress to Stage 3 of the pipeline or move to further education or employment. Stage 3 will develop Employability Skills : Interview Techniques, Employer Expectations, Job Application & Job Searching Skills.

Learners will be supported to progress to Stage 4 of the pipeline or move to further education or employment. Stage 4 will be sector based and include an industry specific qualification (when available).

Course Information

The aim of the programme is to prepare candidates for Employment by providing employability skills including interview skills, one to one support, confidence building, motivational excercises and provision of sector specific information.

• Approved qualifications: Forklift Truck Counterbalance or Reach.
• Training to help achieve entry level jobs eg. warehouse operatives (power pallet truck and manual handling).
• Elementary Food Hygiene.
• Emergency First Aid to enhance job opportunities.

Work experience placements in tailored need applications. On going support during work placement and aftercare support to increase employment opportunities or second job.

Course Information

12 week course dealing with employability and personal development skills. Classroom based with practical challenge element or work tasters in local areas.

The aim of this provision is to assist learners in establishing a structure, improving on their literacy and numeracy skills and providing learners with an opportunity to develop practical work related skills in an outdoor environment, which may include painting and decorating, mono blocking and slabbing, fencing, ground maintenance and tree thinning and planting, erection and building of Flower and Vegetable Pods.
